Their problems make them want to run away so badly. And then they do...It's a lot of fuss about nothing. Yes, Will and Zoe didn't have the easiest childhood, far from it, and they are dissatisfied with their current situation. Originally I thought about them running away as an exciting adventure to find themselves and solve their problems. Only along the way offences kept accumulating and things got more out of hand and complicated the longer they ran. But did they do anything to solve their problems and think up a way to make things better? Not at all. They just ran without thinking about the consequences and act without thinking what it could do to others.A dual point of view is implemented to show how troubled both of them are and that they are a perfect match. Their romance was one of the most immature and unfulfilling I've read about in a while, Will and Zoe are not a couple I could make myself sympathize with.2/5 ** NOBODY BUT US - This is the story of rash and immature Zoe and Will who were not the thrill-seeking, brave and clever couple I was looking foward to meet. Very poor Bonnie and Clyde retelling, without the glamour and brains of their role models. When I first heard about NOBODY BUS US I expected a very intense love story (which it is) but it stressed me out more than it grew on me, ending in a complete disappointment.

Lindas Leben ist reich an Showbiz-Erfahrung und allemal eine Autobiografie wert. Sie schreibt gut, blumig, emotional und das Buch liest sich deshalb schnell, man bekommt den Eindruck einer frÃ¶hlichen, herzlichen Frau, die Wert darauf legt, gemocht und verstanden zu werden. Linda wiederholt sich oft und erklÃ¤rt gefÃ¼hlt ein Hundert mal, wie sehr sie ihre Kinder und generell ihre Familie liebt. Das ist trivial, ebenso wie ihre Songtexte, auf die sie sehr stolz zu sein scheint, obwohl sie recht pubertÃ¤r wirken. Sehr unangenehm ist das penetrante â€žNames-Dropingâ€œ â€“ Linda kennt seeehr viele Prominente und dankt denen seitenweise (!) hinten im Buch.Etwa die HÃ¤lfte des Buches handelt von ihrer Beziehung zu Elvis. Sie trafen einander im Juli 1972 und Elvis war wohl bis Ende 1973 in sie verliebt. Dann ereilte sie das Schicksal aller Elvis-Frauen, er wurde ihrer Ã¼berdrÃ¼ssig, und schob sie sukzessive ab. Offiziell kam es Ende 1976 zur endgÃ¼ltigen Trennung. Lindas Beginn markiert Elvis Anfang vom Ende. Insofern korrespondiert ihre leicht esoterische Ader doch gut mit seiner Geisteswandlung. Es ist tatsÃ¤chlich ein starker Kontrast zu Priscillas knappem, sachlichen Sprachstil ausmachen. In der Elvis-Literatur herrscht Einigkeit darÃ¼ber, dass Linda sich fÃ¼r Elvis und seine Kapriolen aufopferte. Eine spannend geschriebene Geschichte mit 'surprising twists'.

Exciting read from begining to end.

Although Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors, there is no denying that she occasionally gets lazy. This romantic suspense novel is a perfect example. The bad guys are bad. Period. There are no redeeming features, no backstory to explain them. They're just over-the-top bad. The good guys are good. Too good. Unrelievedly good. Darby, the zero-to-sixty heroine, has perfect taste, boundless energy, is able to leap tall buildings with a single bound...well, maybe not that last one. Conveniently, she has limitless funds to buy a house, start a business, hire staff, buy a truck. She has the knack for convincing everyone in hearing distance to go along with all her ideas. Zane, the tall, lanky, hero, who worked as an ADA for years and has now come home, manages to buy a house and office building, furnish and landscape both, despite his public prosecutor's salary, which couldn't have been much to begin with. Clients fall into his office as if drawn by a magnet, despite the small size of the town. And so on. This is definitely beach reading. The plot is fine, but the characters are cardboard. I'm shaking this off, and will look forward to the author's next book, hoping she'll get back on track.

Understand up front that this is not another romantic suspense novel from Roberts (a master of the genre) but instead a family saga about overcoming abuse, healing, and finding love. Everyone thought Zane and his sister Britt had everything when they were kids and indeed they did- including domestic abuse. Fortunately for both of them, they came out of the horror ok and compelled to do good. Darby, a landscape artist, and Zane meet when Zane goes home to Lakeview, where Darby has landed in her escape from a bad situation. Unfortunately, as these two find their way to each other, there's a menace out there threatening their happiness. This isn't too twisty and is more of a romance than a thriller. Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC. For Roberts fans and those looking for a good beach read.

Ugly story told in a tiresome and ugly way. Donâ€™t buy this book!!

I had a great time with this book. I read quite a few books written by Nora Roberts years ago but had not picked up any in recent years. I am now questioning my decision-making skills because I have clearly been missing out. This was a book that started with a bang and was nearly impossible to put down. I honestly enjoyed the experience of reading this book.The book opens in Zane's childhood. He is a teenager that shows a lot of promise in baseball. He hopes to use his skill in the sport to escape his home life. Things are not as perfect at home as they might appear to be to others in their little town. His mother has served as the school's PTA president and his father is the chief surgeon at the area hospital. Zane, his sister, Britt, and their parents live in the largest home in town and have a very large lifestyle. Unfortunately, the reality of their family includes child abuse and domestic violence.I was completely captivated by this book at the start. The descriptions of everything Zane and Britt had to endure in their home were so vivid that they felt real to me. I felt the pain right along with this group of characters and prayed that things would work out for them. The book then jumps in time and it was nice to see Zane and Britt as adults. Well adjusted adults with new problems to face.Darby is ready for a new start. She is a skilled gardener and landscaper and wants to start up a new business in town. Her first client happens to be Zane's aunt. Darby forms bonds with the people in town very quickly and is soon an important member of the community. When she starts working on Zane's house, things heat up quickly.I really liked the characters in this book. Zane and Darby have both overcome terrible events from their past. They seem to fit together almost perfectly and have great chemistry. I liked how honest these two were with each other and how they seemed to know when to give the other some space. Zane is part of a huge family and I really enjoyed seeing those characters both in the early scenes during his teen years and the section that took place in his adulthood.This book was exciting. Maybe a bit too much in a way. I really did enjoy the story but I felt like some of the things that happened were just too unlikely. I guess everything in the book could be possible but it felt like more was going on than was necessary. It is a work of fiction so I just ran with it but I couldn't help but think about how remarkable it would be to have all of these things happen in such a short time frame.I would highly recommend this book to others. This book does deal with both domestic violence and child abuse so it might be a difficult story for some readers. I thought that the situations in the book were vividly told and handled very well. I definitely plan to read more from Nora Roberts!I received a review copy of this book from St. Martin's Press.

There are only a couple authors I auto buy. This author is one. I know no matter what Iâ€™m going to be sucked in.Her writing for me is like a really good song, itâ€™s lyrical. It ebbs and flows, sometimes itâ€™s turbulent, sometime calm almost serene. I couldnâ€™t put this down. And while I knew exactly who at the end was reeking havoc. Getting there was edge of my seat.The beginning of this is tough, violence against kids at the hand of a parent...well letâ€™s say I felt violent. And thereâ€™s the beauty of a good book. It makes you feel, good or bad, love or hate if you can connect and feel for the characters the author has hit the homerun.The cast of characters are epic! The way NR weaves a story itâ€™s a true work of art. Iâ€™m sad itâ€™s over and man did I enjoy the ride. The HEA was awesome, I loved how they connected and through it all they were a team. Both coming from some sort of violence didnâ€™t stop the connection and for some with that past...well.This book hit all the feels, true family, love, respect and all around story that those who are deeply, innately evil will eventually get the wrath of Karma.Loved!
