I read this book 6 years ago on holiday and I couldn't put it down. I tell you this just to let you know that although the subject matter may appear "heavy", hooks style of writing makes the most complicated theories and intellectual of thoughts on Womanism/Feminism easy to understand and entertaining.This a thought provoking read. For example her theory on the propagation of miscegenation ( the law that banned interracial marriage and our current negative attidudes towards this today) really made me think. Briefly, she theorised that as white men held the key to power the law was brought in not to protect white women from black men but to stop black women marrying white men. If say a black woman married the President she would also have access to power via her direct access and ability to influence the most powerful man in the world.hooks as a writer is brilliant, she's inspiring, informative and imaginative. Which must be quite difficult given the subject matter she deals with. Start with Aint I a Woman and you'll go onto read her whole library. Enjoy.

This is the first book by bell hooks that I have read--and it won't be the last! Hooks lays groundwork in the early chapters of "Ain't I A Woman" which make her later analysis of modern race/gender politics perfectly astute. She starts with a discussion of slavery and its impact on not only the men and women slaves, but the social hierarchy of white women. In so doing, she effectively argues that since our society is a patriarchy--and specifically, a white-dominated patriarchy--feminism has ignored black women's needs in favor of the white women who, in order to maintain their position in the patriarchal power structure, must (even as they give lip-service to "independence") make sure that their movement does not alienate the group which controls that power structure--namely, white men. Bell hooks' riveting style of writing and her clear, articulate arguments, have given me a tremendous new understanding of how our society works, and a glimpse of what it will take to help change it. I highly recommend this book.

bell hooks clearly illustrates how the black woman is the dual embodiment of racial and gender injustices. This is the author's forum to address significant social and political issues that continually render African-American women invisible and devalue their experiences collectively, as well as individually. Ich bin durch Zufall auf das Buch gestoßen und durch die positiven Rezensionen dazu animiert worden, es zu kaufen. Ich habe mir etwas in Richtung "Red Queen" oder "Shadow & Bone" vorgestellt, also zwar Jugendliteratur, aber halt richtig gute.Der Anfang hat mir auch richtig gut gefallen, er hat mich geradezu angefixt. Die Welt fand ich interessant, man muss nicht lange warten, bis Action aufkommt, supi. Danach allerdings hat sich meine Begeisterung gelegt, wovon ich vieles darauf zurückführe, dass ich altersmäßig (26) langsam aus dem Genre Jugendliteratur wachse.[Im Folgenden kommen kleine Spoiler]Das größte Problem hatte ich mit den Charakteren. Jude ist als Hauptfigur gewiss keine Sympathieträgerin. Ich hatte schon in einer anderen Rezension gelesen, dass man mit ihr vielleicht nicht warm werde, und das ist auch wahr. Sie ist eigentlich ziemlich kacke und egoistisch, ohne dabei interessant zu sein. Darüber ist sie ein Übercharakter, der irgendwie alles kann, kämpfen, Intrigen spinnen, stehlen, etc etc. Der Autorin gelingt es in meinen Augen nicht, ihr einen richtigen Charakter zu geben, da ihre Entscheidungen häufig keinen Sinn ergeben und eher zum Weiterführen der Handlung getätigt werden. Dasselbe gilt auch für jeden anderen der vielen blassen Charaktere. Das hat mich richtig aufgeregt. Kaum einer der Personen hat mehr als zwei Charaktereigenschaften: Madoc/Bain/Cardan/jeder Fey ist grausam und hinterhältig, Vivi ist rebellisch, Jude ist nervtötend und undurchsichtig, Taryn ist nur nervig. Die Charaktere sind austauschbar, blass und langweilig. Das macht auch die kurze Liebesgeschichte überaus langweilig, kein Funke springt über, nichts. Irgendwann verfliegt auch die Dramatik, wenn jeder ständig, STÄNDIG, als grausam bezeichnet wird, weil z.B. Madoc kaum grausame Sachen macht und ebenso ständig gesagt wird, dass er Jude und ihre Schwestern liebt, und man das auch ebenso wenig sieht. Der Court of Shadows, dem Jude irgendwann angehört, ist so blass und so ohne Charakter, dass es wehtut. Ich war und bin sehr sehr enttäuscht. Dadurch, dass die Charaktere so blass sind, ist man dann auch mit wenig Sympathie dabei und wenn halt welche von ihnen sterben, dann juckt mich das kaum.Ohne groß auf den Inhalt einzugehen, hatte ich auch mit der Handlung ein paar Probleme. Das Grundgerüst ist überschaubar, die "Überraschung" beim Ende sehr vorhersehbar. Sehr lange Zeit passiert kaum etwas, es geht nur um das Mobbing und Judes nervtötende Schwester und eine kleine Liebesgeschichte. Viele Dinge ergeben keinen Sinn und sind überdramatisiert dargestellt. Bis zum eigentlichen Finale passiert eigentlich nüscht. Obwohl man weiß, dass irgendeine Falle kommt, wird nichts getan. Das hat mich aufgeregt. Einen roten Faden habe ich auch nicht wirklich entdecken können, mir war sehr lange Zeit nicht klar, in welche Richtung das Buch denn nun eigentlich gehen würde, und auch die Auflösung war dann nicht wirklich überzeugend. Mit der schwachen Handlung kamen dann auch Logikfehler oder einfach Dinge, die nicht so gut passten. Es hat sich mir nicht erschlossen, warum Jude nicht einfach in die menschliche Welt abhaut. Es wird nie richtig erklärt, wie die Welten miteinander verbunden sind, dabei wäre das wirklich interessant gewesen. Die vielen Courts wurden einfach nur hingeklatscht, die Personen blieben vage im Gedächtnis. Die ganze Geschichte mit Taryn war so unnötig und nervtötend, dass ich das Ebook gerne in die Ecke gepfeffert hätte. Und dass man einfach zu verfeindeten Lagern hingeht und sagt: Hey, machste bei unserem Coup mit, und alle es abnicken, macht einfach keinen Sinn. Wie so vieles einfach zu blass.Mein größtes Problem war, dass viele Dinge so oft erwähnt wurden, dass sie irgendwann ihr Drama verloren. Feys sind grausam - das wird durchgekaut, aber richtige Gefahr kam irgendwie nie so richtig auf, auch, wenn es für Jude mal eng wurde (dafür ist aber auch der Schreibstil mitverantwortlich). Jude hat Angst, ständig, immer, aber ihre Handlungen zeigen das wirklich NIE. Jemand, der Angst hat, handelt eher so wie Taryn. Die Autorin wird nicht müde zu erwähnen, wie viel Angst Jude je hatte und wie sie damit zurechtkommt, aber immer mehr Angst hat - es geht so viel um Angst, dass man bei dem Wort irgendwann nur noch die Augen verdreht.Der Schreibstil war in Ordnung. Den ganzen Aufwand, den man auf das Beschreiben der Kleider verwendet hat, hätte man besser in gute Charakterbeschreibungen investieren können. Oft kam mir der Stil gelangweilt vor, so als wüsste die Autorin genau, wo sie denn hin will, und schreibt es deswegen so langweilig wie möglich herunter. Ganz oft haben mir Detailbeschreibungen gefehlt, von Reaktionen, Gesichtern, ich hätte gerne mehr richtige Dialoge gehabt, die mehr als nur Drohungen gewesen wären.Ich komme langsam besser zum Fazit: Der Anfang war gut und die ganze Welt hat mir gut gefallen, da ist definitiv viel Potential drin. Ich hatte öfter das Gefühl, dass mit den ganzen royalen Intrigen auf Game of Thrones angespielt wird, ohne dabei auch nur annähernd das Niveau zu erreichen. Mit besser ausgearbeiteten Charakteren hätte man schon viel erreichen können. Vielleicht ist für die Zielgruppe 16+ ansprechend, mich hat es nicht überzeugt, und ich werde auch die Fortsetzung nicht kaufen.

Keine leichte Aufgabe, denn die arroganten Fey verabscheuen Sterbliche - besonders der charismatische Prinz Cardan und sein Gefolge, die Jude wie Dreck behandeln. Doch dann steht die Wahl eines neuen High Kings bevor und Jude gerät in ein gefährliches Netz aus Intrigen, Machtspielen, Lügen und Verrat."The Cruel Prince" stammt aus der Feder von Holly Black und ist der Auftakt ihrer "The Folk of the Air"-Trilogie. Bislang kannte ich die Autorin nur durch ihre Magisterium-Reihe. Hier begeistert sie nun mit düster-magischer Feen-Fantasy und bescherte mir damit viele spannende Lesestunden.Das Worldbuilding fand ich schon mal richtig toll. Elfhame ist kein märchenhaft-glitzerndes Feenreich, sondern düster, grausam, brutal und bedrohlich. Hautnah erleben wir hier mit, was die Sterblichen von den Fey erdulden müssen. Wie sehr Jude gedemütigt und beleidigt wird. Wie sehr sie es hasst, verwundbar und schwach zu sein. Und wie sie an Stärke und Selbstbewusstsein hinzugewinnt, sich langsam wehrt und ihren eigenen Weg geht.Ich-Erzählerin Jude ist eine faszinierende (Anti)heldin, die mich tatsächlich etwas an Adelina aus Marie Lus "Young Elites"-Trilogie erinnert hat. Ich habe zwar mit ihr mitgefühlt, aber so richtig warm wurde ich mit ihr nicht. Ihre Handlungen konnte ich auch nicht immer nachvollziehen. Cardan, der von Jude verhasste und grausame Prinz, ist ebenfalls ein sehr undurchsichtiger Charakter. Beide verbindet eine interessante, aber keine romantische Beziehung - jedenfalls noch nicht. Zumindest gibt es in dieser Richtung schon ein paar leichte Andeutungen. Ob aus den beiden wirklich noch ein Paar wird? Ich bin gespannt.Der Roman ist im Präsens geschrieben und bietet genügend Spannung, Action, Drama und Gefühl. Zwischenzeitlich sind aber auch einige Längen zu überwinden, vor allem bei den recht ausführlichen Kleiderbeschreibungen. Ich liebe zwar Details, aber hier war es mir dann doch manchmal zu viel. Dafür erleben wir einige überraschende und auch schockierende Entwicklungen, mit denen ich so nie gerechnet hätte. Überhaupt ist die Handlung bis zum packenden Showdown kaum vorhersehbar. Ich freue mich jetzt schon auf die Fortsetzung "The Wicked Prince"!Insgesamt kann ich daher "The Cruel Prince" sehr empfehlen. Düstere und originelle Feen-Fantasy, die mich auf Anhieb in den Bann gezogen hat. Sehr gute 4 Sterne von mir.

And that's what's so well-reflected in the complexity of the characters and plot. No one is all-bad or all-good and no actions are all-good or all-bad.If you want to read about about Fae, sisterhood, a main character finding out where she belongs and figuring out how to stand up for herself, some magic, fighting, strategy, morally grey characters, plot twists, beautiful 1st person POV writing and political intrigue, then this book might just be what you're looking for.

Habe dieses Buch durch zufall gesehen und war auch gleich davon angetan das ich esfür meine 2 jährige Tochter bestellt habe. Hatte gedacht das einige Tiere abgebildet sindund man dann einfach z.b. Möhren, Körner etc.... dazu ordnen soll. Doch wo es kam warich mehr als positiv überrascht. klar es ist schwer, doch die kleinen haben damit kein Problem.Alle Seiten sind sehr süß gestaltet, dick und können auch abgewaschen werden wenn sich dochmal Schokolade etc... drauf verirren tut. Aber auch die Mangnet sind abwaschbar und halten recht gutauf den Seiten.. Die Magnet können in den 3 kleinen Fächer gut aufbewahrt werden, bin mal gespanntob die Fächer längerfristig das aushalten.Die Seiten sind sehr schön und der Text auch nicht so lang, man erfährt durch zuhören welche Tier,welcher Gegenstand etc.. auf die Seite gehören, aber auch schön was man noch so sieht. Es machtmeiner kleinen sehr viel Spass die Magnet zu verteilen und zu schauen was noch so zu sehen ist.Aber auch einfach mal die Zeiten nach Lust und Laune zu verzieren damit macht auch Spass.Ein wirklich schönes Buch ab 2 Jahre wo die Kindern auch länger etwas Spass haben, man muss nuretwas auf die Magnet aufpassen nicht das sie im ganzen Haus verteilt werden.

Wie haben bereits das andere Magnetbuch mit dem Bauernhof. Leider hat das hier ein anderes Prinzip. Bei diesem muss man die Magnete nach jeder Seite entfernen weil man sie mehrfach benötigt. Und die Kinder haben auch mehrere Möglichkeiten die Magnete zu platzieren, nicht nur eine Lösung. Prinzipiell eine gute Variante, allerdings verwirrt es meine Tochter komplett. Bei dem Bauerhofbuch lässt man die Magnete dran und am Ende desBuches sind alle aufgebraucht, wenn man keinen „Fehler“ gemacht hat.

Allerlei Magneten mit Tieren, Fressen und Zubehör. Ein schönes Buch, um mit den Kleinen ins Gespräch zu kommen oder zur Selbstbeschäftigung.Ein großes Minus ist allerdings die Aufbewahrung der Magnete. Die geht unheimlich schnell kaputt und dann fliegen die Magneten überall rum. Hier gibt es bestimmt eine besser Alternative. Daher zwei Punkte Abzug.

Das Buch ist wirklich eine ganz tolle Idee aber empfehlen würde ich es für diesen Preis nicht. Die Magnete lösen sich sehr schnell von den Pappbildern. Des weiteren halten die Magnete nicht wirklich gut auf der Seite und bei uns haben sich die Rückseiten bei beiden Büchern nach paar Tagen von den Ringenhefter gelöst

Leider ist das Buch sehr schwer. Die Magnete muss man immer wieder einsammeln um die auf anderen Seiten wieder verwenden zu können.Die Magnete sind aber schön. Werden bei uns am Kühlschrank verwendet.Raus geschmissenes Geld

Das Buch ist ziemlich schwer. Die Bilder sind schön und es gibt auch einiges zu entdecken für das junge alter von 2Jahren vollkommen ok. Der Preis hat mich schon etwas abgeschreckt und es wuerden auch ein paar € weniger tun.

Da ich bereits ein anderes Buch von dieseb Spielbüchern habe, bin - wie nicht anders zu erwarten war :) - auch von diesen Bildern begeistert, die unterschiedlichen Magnete sind schön gestaltet und lassen viele Möglichkeiten zu um die Gegend in den Büchern fantasievoll zu gestalten.Für kreative Mädchen genau das Richtige.5 Sterne auch für dieses schöne Buch :)

wenn man bedenkt, dass das Buch oder eben die Figuren mangentisch ist/sind, ist es wohl auch nachvollziehbar. Aber ich war in erster Linie schon über das Gewicht des Buches erschrocken. Das ist für kleine Kinderrhände schon etwas schwer zu händeln.Dennoch bereitet es meinem Kind sehr viel Freude.Ich würde es wieder kaufen!

Das Buch gewährt interessante Einblicke in die Beratungspraxis des Autors für Existenzgründungen.Diverse praktisch durchgespielte Beispiele führen perfekt an die entscheidenden Fragen heran.Mein Geschäftspartner hat das Buch dann auch gelesen.Das hat unsere weiteren Diskussionen sehr positiv beeinflusst und der konkreten Umsetzung den entscheidenden Schub gegeben!

Ich hatte das Buch eigentlich nur wegen dem Rechentool für Steuerbelastungsvergleiche gekauft, weil ich überlege, auf eine GmbH umzusteigen. Beim Reinlesen bin ich jedoch hängen geblieben und habe dann doch komplett gelesen. Das Paket aus Buch und Rechentool hat mich wissenstechnisch in eine neue Dimension geführt. Es ist ein Vielfaches des Kaufpreises wert

Hohe informationsdichte, absolute Praxisorientierung und angenehmer Schreibstil. Alles schön mit Zahlen und Beispielen erklärt und durchgerechnet. Wirklich hilfreich.

Da ich gerade dabei bin mich selbständig zu machen, habe ich mir das Buch gekauft.Ich finde, das Buch ist sehr gut geschrieben und enthält viele hilfreiche Tipps, die einem helfen den richtigen Ansatz für einen Start zu finden.

Die Anschaffung hat sich gelohnt. Der content ist beeindruckend gehaltvoll und geht weit hinaus über das übliche seichte Gelaber über Steuersparmodelle.
